Not sure I’ll get any deeper into this collection. It could be the translation or simply the stories aren’t landing for me. I haven’t fully abandoned the book, but it’s getting close.

I fucking love Baz even more as the series goes on.

I accidentally started a re-read via audiobook. Knowing how the series plays out, it's fun to pick out all the foreshadowing.

I really want to love this book more than I am so far, because it's got all the right elements but they're not gelling for me into an engaging or interesting narrative.
I keep checking the progress to see if I'm almost done and can start something else, and that's not a great feeling.
We'll see how I feel in 29%. That seems like a lifetime away. 😕

I may have some catch up reading to do before I tackle this one. I thought it was a stand-alone... gonna give it a shot anyway.

This sounds terrible from the blurb, but I've learned not to trust the terrible cover art or jacket copy for Klune's books. I hope it's not a disappointment.

Off to a rough start. I've skipped the first two stories (and I normally enjoy Jordan L Hawk) after a few pages because the characters or unfolding stories weren't doing it for me at all.
It's not a knock at the authors as much as the subject matter at this point.
I've high hopes for Ginn Hale and Jordan Castillo Price 🤞🏻.

I’m surprised I’ve read this far, but I feel committed despite the clunky prose and slow-moving story. It's a quick and easy read that isn't engaging me on anything more than a surface level, but it's okay as a summer distraction.

Dal Maclean needs to come over and clean up all these unexpected fucking tears.

I'm not sure I'll be able to get to 20% with this one. I was rolling my eyes at 3% and am struggling through each page of dull prose, lifeless characters, forced world building, and stilted dialogue. I'll try to power through this chapter, but...

I'm unreasonably excited to read this book.

Really it's just smut with a fantasy sheen, but Megan Derr dresses it up in an interesting-enough story bow.

This is kind of a slog, but there are enough interesting-ish bits of history to keep me skim-reading. I picked this up from the library on a whim and I may or may not finish it; it's easy enough to get through a chapter or two but not compelling enough to read it in extended sittings. I'm rarely so ambivalent about a book. Why am I even writing an update?

A page in and I'm sure I've read this before--maybe in a compilation. Still going to finish it because it's nice to visit old friends.

Three stories in and I'm having a tough time. The writing feels dull and flat and the stories are not particularly engaging. I'll soldier on through a couple more before calling it quits.
