There is a chapter midway through this book that changes everything, and thus the plot is derailed into unknown territory. I’m hooked.

Wang’s envisioning of a clever and intricate magic system, combined with an intriguing socioeconomic class system dynamic, have made the first 100 pages of Blood Over Bright Haven a fantasy novel worth the read!

As this is my first book by this author, I don’t see how I can put off reading The Sword of Kaigen immediately after finishing this one.

Intriguing double mystery narrative made even more complex with the broken timeline alternating between separate disappearances spanning across decades that may or may not be related. If you’re looking for a mystery that isn’t predictable and keeps you grounded in the present rather than the future, check this one out!
