"as I look ahead I see only an accelerated work-pattern until the day I drop into the grave." In a letter to her mother, Plath is explaining her feelings of the future. She feels as though she will only see days of endless work for the rest of her life. I chose this quote because I can relate to it as I have often pondered this thought.

"What is significant is I felt God's touch. God got involved." IN this quote Jules is arguing with Vincent about the miracle they witnessed earlier in the day. Vincent doesn't believe it was a miracle but Jules claims he will quit his dangerous job because of the event that occurred. I chose this quote because I liked the way Jules explained how he felt.

Here Antonio is at catechism and is feeling the pain of Christ during the lesson. I chose this quote because he describes his loneliness well.

Here Antonio is describing his uncle Lucas, who is sick with a curse that was laid upon him by three evil witches. I chose this quote because I think the way Anaya worded this sentence was beautiful despite the subject.

In this quote Antonio had just been told an old story about the Native-Americans' gods by Samuel and he is shocked to hear Samuel refer to multiple gods rather than just one since he was raised Christian. I chose this quote because a lot of kids are strictly raised a religion without any say.

"The four directions of the llano met in me, and the white sun shone on my soul. The granules of sand at my feet and the sun and sky above me seemed to dissolve into one strange, complete being." I love the way this was written and I like how Anaya throws in Spanish words every once in a while. The main character, Antonio and his family is welcoming an elder to come live with them.
