What a strange book

This book is insane, so intensely descriptive I have to take little breaks from reading it from sensory overload… and it’s a book for god’s sake (v impressive actually)

I’m so excited to become the most insufferable person at the function when I’m bored

im...........................................................................................not really sure how to feel about this one. Had me at first, and then in the middle to,, pretty much the end of the book reading it felt like dragging my body through glass to finish. It has some cool points that i think I can get behind, but the dialogue format made it so convulted I don't know how to feel about it. eh

sometimes a book is so good i have to take a break and process how good it is and mourn the fact that i will never be able to incapsulate a fraction of the that feeling to anyone else. I feel like the fact I'm on page 2 writing this should speak for itself. because that's all i got

I did NOT anticipate this book being funny?? The first chapter reminds me of Cat's Cradle when one of the characters' fathers is trying to connect with him for the first time ever and all the character can think about is how ugly he is. That... but a whole chapter. Really hammered it home.

The owner of the store bought this for me because she wanted me to read it so badly. I really like the dialogue format which mirrors many philosophy books.

Michael Chabon opening the chapter by calling Lovecraft a watered down Borges really sold me ngl.

Reading this book is like mining for gold but the gold is the whole fucking thing. On o'connor saying "'There's a certain grain of stupidity that the writer of fiction can hardly do without, and this is the quality of having to stare.'..she goes on to say that writing is waiting....you're staring or waiting for the image or the moment or the smell or the sound to emerge"

Fuck I was really trying to get to 100 before the end of my shift
