Been meaning to read this for a long time and found it in a free library box the other day - i had one major thing left on my to do list that i felt like procrastinating today, and reading 100 pages of this in one 2-hour sitting was a grand way to do it

Finally starting to read this and I did not realize it was set in Vancouver! Loving it so far, such good old japanese woman vibiness

All of y’all have been reading this recently, I’ve meant to read it since it came out, and today I went to a library I had never been to before and they had three copies just sitting there waiting for me. Since I used to read Hark! A Vagrant as a high schooler, seeing Kate Beaton’s art style feels like coming home. I know people from Fort Macmurray who have been through a lot though - idk if theyd like this.

2024 so far is like my year of reading mostly not good books, especially mid poetry :// but here’s one poem from this collection that surprisingly hit hard:

Pax

I demand that the human race / ceases multiplying its kind / and bow out / I advise it

And as punishment & reward / for making this plea I know / I’ll be reborn / the last human

I started reading this a couple weeks ago and i just found out it’s a sequel, i guess i’m The Idiot now, grumble grumble
