At this point, this seemed more like Starhammer's story, with his own goals and the rest of the Last Horizon cast as the villains opposing him. It feels more like our crew was directly responsible for turning him into a darkness. I am connecting with neither of them.
Perhaps if we had more chapters from Mell's POV, whom starhammer tries to protect, maybe I would've liked this more.
