I sure hope this exchange between a (male) director of an institute of education and a (male) fanatic of Islam about (female) wearers of headscarves is satire, cause if it isn't, it's simply hilariously bad.

How rum some English people are! They ask to be shocked and long to be shocked and hope to be shocked, but if you really shock them...how shocked they are!

There is a certain pleasure we take in thinking about how bad it gets, Sartaj thought, and then in imagining how it will inevitably get worse. And still we survive, the city stumbles on. Maybe one day it'll all just fall apart, and there was a certain gratification in that thought too. Let the maderchod blow.

A suspected Neo-Nazi teen murdered the parents of his ex-girlfriend, so now I suppose people are going to be clamoring for mental health incarceration of teenagers instead of, I don't know. Rejecting every instance of hate before it comes to this? Nah. That'd take too much self-reflexively critical evaluation.

The stories for the record are the ones new refugees tell to obtain the right to humanitarian asylum, written down in the immigration department and preserved in their private files. The real stories remain locked in the hearts of the refugees, for them to mull over in complete secrecy. That's not to say it's...

As if the adults weren't taking advantage...
