Ah, Mishima. Turning a dude looking at his dude friend's nipple into a forboding philisophical meditation as per usual.

Those who lack imagination have no choice but to base their conclusions on the reality they see around them. But on the other hand, those who are imaginative have a tendency to build fortified castles they have designed themselves, and to seal off every window in them.

Perhaps being old friends didn't mean very much, they shared assumptions rather than lives.

You ever run into those users who have added thousands of books, but you still can't tell if they actually read them or not? A strange business.

"Boy George is a man, isn't he?" said Rachel.
"Yes, he is," said Nick.
"Not like George Eliot."
"No, not at all."
"Very fair question," said Gerald.

The mark of the marginalized is to only be allowed a significant presence in the historical record for one reason and one reason alone: not for reason of their own effort and achievement, but through having abuse and destruction inflicted upon them.

Getting real sick of cishets complaining about "graphic" sex in non-cishet books. You think I want to have to put up with sitting through some sensationalized missionary position that shows up three to five more times than is thematically necessary every time I want to watch something mature on television? Grow up.

Reviewers who write that a book puts you in the mind of a "mentally ill" person and leaves the armchair diagnosis at that are hilarious cause it's obvious that there isn't a single mentally ill person in their personal network who's comfortable enough with them to laugh in the face of such vaguely phrased irrelevancies.

What an odd creature this Miriam Henderson has turned into. Servants to do the sheets, political militancy in the streets. I wonder if she ever realizes that, by her logic, her having to work for a living renders any kind of observation of life that is of her composition nothing more a dingy work of incompleteness conducted in utterly misguided futility.

So the new GR book page, which some of you might have seen in beta, sacrifices usability in favor of shoving popular reviewers and Amazon products down one's throat everytime one wishes to merely view a book. Can't wait to see how they're going to monetize the personal library page after witnessing this ham-fisted money scheme.

Love how useful my friend request question is when it comes to weeding out the bigots and other breeds of hateful self-righteousness. Anyway, another book sale bonanza coming up, so apologies in advance for the spam-levels of book alerts from me in your feeds.

People will list out their personal libraries/favorite books and be all 'Tee hee I'm so eclectic!!!!' and the first five listed will be 1984, The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Alice in Wonderland, and Animal Farm.

Either I use the GR app and get everyone, including users whom I've blocked, or I use the desktop and have whatever random friends/reviewers I follow be deleted as GRAmazon pleases. And this is with barely 1% of the max GR friend capacity on my feed. I guess a straightforwardly accurate feed isn't lucrative enough for certain corporations.

Starting this off by reading the introductory material of both my editions before plunging into the newer translation, referring to the older one as needed. Will be a bit confusing at the beginning, but it'll be worth it by the end.

So now one of the accounts of my longtime GR friends has been taken over by the ongoing rampant wave of recent-status-liking porn bots. Great to know that, unless I'm some up and coming Bright Young Arthur with loads of trust fund cash to splurge on advertising, GRAmazon isn't going to lift a finger to do anything to rectify it.

I know a version of this story involving Amaterasu, Susano, the eight-headed serpent with a world on its back, and sake from the video game Okami, which has a Celestial Brush instead of a Celestial Sword. It's interesting that, due to the narratological involvement of said sword, this section is considered a "secret piece" by professional Heike performers, .
