Honestly, a specific portion of this text resonates heavily. Cole writes of a moment in which Julius, the narrator, is jumped by a gang of black teenagers. He thinks to how he only wish he could feel as he did before being physically harmed and in that we do not think of this feeling unless we are in an experience of pain or suffering.
This morning I was utterly hungover and could not stop thinking about this.
