Si un príncipe quiere conservar el estado a menudo se ve obligado a no ser bueno; cuando la mayoría, ya sea pueblo, soldados o grandes, de la que piensas tener necesidad para mantenerte, está corrompida, te conviene seguir su humor para satisfacerla, y entonces las buenas acciones serán tu perdición.
