I am reading a two volume paperback version, and I finished the first volume called "Siege." I really liked the princess story. This whole series has been a lot of fun so far. Half-expecting everyone to die in the last bit, though.

I might be hating this. So far it is 90% yuck and maybe 10% sci-fi, although the whole end of the UK thing is weird what with brexit chaos right now.

I read the Mazie story that inspired "Saint Mazie" but now the library wants it back, someone put a hold on it.

After 3 months of trying, I managed to finish exactly one of these sagas, namely "Egil's." It's about a psychopath who kills lots of people and causes lots of trouble and gets lots of rewards for it and then dies of old age. There were some funny bits and when Egil goes off on his viking raps (drapas and stuff) it's pretty cool but I'm going to have put this brick on hold for a while. I'll get back to it someday.

I might give up on this. It's not going anywhere and in the current climate I don't have the stomach for the normal sexism of a hundred years ago.

Really like this so far. This chapter about slavery is deeeeeep.

That bit of the "Community" chapter about the Irish was hilarious.

Once it started alternating between crazy cosmology, a spy thriller, and Das Boot, I was hooked. The Festival ... I get it that it's inspired by what happens to Edinburgh periodically... was pretty annoying until the nine year old with the talking animals showed up. So far, loving this weirdness.

I should be loving this... fin de siecle in space meets post-scarcity anarchism... but it's kind of silly or maybe I am just distracted.
