Got through part 1. Stephen King is kind of a weirdo, but in other news Nick is an adorable cupcake! ^_^

Was just introduced to the bad guy of this book (I think), Randall Flagg. Some crazy Stephen King stuff is happening! Why is he levitating for no reason? Things better make sense later...

I very much dislike Stephen King, but I was convinced to give this a try. Very compelling so far and surprisingly moving at parts. Stuff. Is going. Down.

"The captain, thinking over this event afterwards, realized that by his own lifelong standards he had a crew composed entirely of lunatics, with himself well to the front in degree of aberration; but he was fairly sure that this particular form of insanity was going to be useful."

Barlennan is so legit! Is it weird I am rooting for a centipede/caterpillar alien thing? And he's plotting something. I feel like it could be a diabolical plan and I would totally be on board! Haha.

This book is cracking me up. Two-dimensional shapes and satire. Amazing.

So far we have a wily freelance adventurer who is basically a caterpillar trying to communicate with humans for business purposes on a fast spinning planet with treacherous gravity effects. This is why old school sci fi is the best sci fi.

"We are," he announced with a solemn hiccup, "the creashurs o' what we eat and drink." He repeated this, and as I was now in one of my subtle moods, I determined to dispute it. Possibly I wandered a little from the point. But Cavor certainly did not attend at all properly." - Getting intoxicated by moon fungus. This is hysterical!
