"We have come a long way ... no respectable public figure can casually insult women or sling around invidious stereotypes of other races or ethnic groups. Educated peopl try to be conscious of their hidden prejudices and to measure them against the facts .... In public life we try to judge people as individuals, not as specimens of a sex or ethnic group." LOLOLOLOL

Temple Grandin's passages are far more readable than Sean Barron's; the latter tends to get mired in his own memories and angst, as well as being terribly repetitive. Editor Zysk needed a firmer hand with him.

Finding Sean Barron's writing tedious and not a little self-indulgent. Okay, we get it, your childhood was miserable ... over and over.

Bending over backwards to make nice with Ian Dunbar. OTOH, Dunbar doesn't come across as orthodox as some of his adherents seem to imply.

What kind of working dog handler doesn't know the conditions under which his dog was raised as a pup? Note to self: Google "Harlen Lambert" later today...

Yes, I am a slow reader. Gem graf: >>"When they finished th ATF course, they told us, 'He's not a pet anymore, he's a tool.' In all that time, you forget he's a dog."

Already disappointed in some of his contributors: Ian Dunbar, for one. Also, his rules for choosing a trainer come perilously close to "the customer is always right, even when the customer is wrong".

McCaig is a charming writer; he's obviously setting us up for the attack to come from the AKC.
