Will say I'm a bit annoyed of the already 2 mentions of her being Jewish. That's irrelevant and not a personality trait?

I was hooked from the start! My heart is pounding with Dannie's and shook with Greg and Bella's bf (if you know, you know)

Creepy as fuck so far. Thankfully the current day POV is slightly less creepy so I might get some sleep tonight. Super addictive

I’m having such mixed feelings about this book. The first 100 pages were sitting around and waiting (literally), then it FINALLY started with explainations. There was a lot of useless repetitive banter. I don’t like Poppy’s character as much as in the first. She’s stubborn and annoying much like Harley Quinn. Sometimes the story picked up and I was like YES YES YES but it keeps on being a rollercoaster …

“Even at Ellingham, patriarchy reared its shaggy head” ......

Is that relevant? No. Is that irritating? Yes. So uncalled for ...

Book 1: She used a description that was cute. The red hair description and then sth along the lines "underneath was the owner of the hair"
Book 2: Same description except with gray hair for Larry.
You can't just drag on "jokes" or repeat the same thing applied to different character. Also I had noticed in book 1, what's up with the overly descriptive refs to hair?

I deplore the phrasing inaccuracies and the fact that there is a language mistake in the book. “Après les parents, LE déluge” or “Après les parents, les DELUGES” cmon. She could have checked French grammar before publishing this. It’s a detail but considering this book is rich with details, wordings and impressions this matters

I am really enjoying the writing so far, the mystery is intriguing and it’s relatively fast paced

BUUUT I’m disliking a lot of the characters that are “wanna be original” but are quite clichés of their area or interest. It would have been more interesting if the characters were not that marginal in style ... Do you really need to shop in thrift stores and live in Paris to be an artist?
