It's hard to believe how a community can be run like this. How religion and cult like behaviors can completely brain wash people and control their lives. In this book women are treated like garbage and they are only allowed to do housework or whatever the men say. Also Kyra, the main character, is being forced to marry her uncle... I can't process this. Like how is this supposed to fulfill anything.

I don't like all the hate crime going on. Someone burned the art that was supposed to help the Khans. All the students are blaming Javier for being responsible, and all the teachers are blaming either Jean- the art teacher or the english teacher just because she is new.

It's hard to believe that someone would steal the artwork that is supposed to help the Khans. I think it's ridiculous that someone could be so selfish when this artwork practically determines these people's lives at this point.

So far this book is a little confusing because every chapter it shifts to a new character. I guess I still need to get used to it because the stories that each character is telling doesn't really bounce of the previous one, it's kinda weird.

I don't like how repetitive this book is. I mean I know that sometimes it is used for emphasis and to get a point across it repeats the same points instead of giving me more and new information.

I noticed that this book has a lot of facts, and that it is very repetitive. I don't really like it nor dislike it, I'm very indifferent with it. Some of the facts are incredibly interesting and I think will benefit my research, but then the rest of it is kinda nonsense.

I picked this book because it highlights how women are seen as sexual beings in the media and how it isn't right. My topic is feminism. I am a huge feminist and even to this day women are still treated like second class citizens when compared to men. And it is even worse in other countries, but it is still very bad in the U.S

I love the way this book seems so real. There are so many teenagers that are out their and questioning their sexuality and I feel like this book is perfectly discussing the internal and external problems that these teenagers feel. I got this book on Saturday and I'm practically done with the book, it's just such a great read.

I wonder why Piper was able to be almost forgiving of Nora when they got locked up together in Chicago. I thought she would have kept to herself, but instead she is kind of enjoying Nora's company. I think it's weird

I'm distracted by all the new names she is adding to her story. She completely shifted from the inmates and now is talking about some of the guards and its really confusing. I don't like how she keeps jumping around.

I like that Piper helped Mrs.Jones with her school work. I thought it was really cool of her to help her pass her classes so that she could get her GED.

I wonder how hard it must have been for Larry and Piper to keep their relationship so strong when they were separated for Piper's sentence.

I noticed that the main character, Piper, is a lot more reserved to herself because her close friend from the prison was moved into a drug rehab group.

The character Pop reminds so much of the character Red from the show. The show did a great job emphasizing what a power house Pop is in the kitchen and in the prison itself. Everyone highly respects her in both the book and the tv show.

So far I don't like the book. I think the tv show is so good that I can't get into the book. Also I get confused because the characters don't have the same names. But I like how there are similarities between the two, and I'm just hoping that the book is going to get better.

I picked this passage because I really liked the idea of strong relationships backing up someone who was in such a bad situation.

I chose this book because I am obsessed with the tv show.
