The poems about the author facing her mom’s cancer diagnosis and aftermath hit me in a way I didn’t expect. It pulled up all of the awful things I felt when my mom got her breast cancer diagnosis last year, and at the same time made me incredibly thankful that my mom has made it to remission. I definitely wasn’t expecting this swell of emotions.
