Well written, easy reading, but I'm in huge need of a surprise anytime soon...

Apart from me being out of practice in reading dialog in Swedish, this starts out good. Very traditional, but good.

Written in 1921, that's really mind-blowing.

The five black dogs returned shortly after midnight.

And we took a great leap into the surreal territory. Did that Michelle reveal really make sense? I'm not sure, but I'm sure I won't backtrack to find out, because I don't care if it didn't - this is way too creepy good now :-)

Story's alternating between past, present and surreal. Very addictive:)

After getting used to the... unconventional narrative voice, the book gets better by the page. Nice to revisit some characters from the summer of '60.

A bit uneven, but surely worth a read.

Need to finish this - Morrissey is an interesting person, a good writer and has made some pretty amazing music. That's pretty much all the author and I agree on. A long time I found him merely annoying, but after his ignorant and ridiculous bashing of Joy Division/New Order and Electronic, he flat out pisses me off.

Presumptuous, pretentious & pompous.

And I'm still reading it.

Lost a bit of pace

Getting awfully bored reading about ultra-mega-stinking rich folks now...

For me who don't know the first thing about baseball, "Blockade Billy" is not only totally incomprehensible, but boring as can be. Was it a single volume, it would have hit my DNF shelf a few pages in.

This keeps its grip - I don't know yet if it's a great story, but it sure is a brilliantly told story.

I agree, I disagree, I find the author clever, I find him clueless, I think he's brilliant and I think he's stupid, I think he's a poet and I think he slaughters Morrissey's words by putting them in contexts where they don't belong. No risk of me stopping this one, either way.

Increasingly unsure about this one. In addition to the pretentious prose, the author expressed the tasteless opinion that the IRA bombing in Manchester in 1996 was a blessing, since it damaged the Arndale shopping center (which he thought ugly). On the very same page he talks about design HiFi, which can only be Bang and Olufssen, referring to them as "Swedish"...

"Ur" reminded me of "Word processor of the gods" - now that was such a cool story! Oh, I'll get back on "Ur" in the future review...

"Smiths"-nostalgia-overload!

Don't think this will touch earlier collections, but "A Death" was a huge step towards that.

I always try to write something along my updates, but having a hard time finding what to say about this - hopefully a future review will not be empty. /Confused.

I feel like I missed the stop and stumbled into the next story by mistake. At least two stories for the price of one when getting the goods from the man from Nantucket.

Any other story would have ended a little while ago, I can't imagine what's in store still.

First of 2017 buddy read with my good friend Edward! This is a heavy one and I'm very glad to have some guidance and someone to exchange thoughts and ideas with through it!

Just imagine - if I hold on to my decision to stay away from the tower, this is the last King (this far) I have yet to read (!)

29 hrs of travel starting now. I wish this book would last all of them.
