I may not finish this but the protagonist seems like he has control issues so essentially is a caricature which lends the story the drama it needs. There's a reason why these books sell well...social media cannot outmatch our imaginations when reading stories. Reels designed to get us to buy products are disingenuous at best... would rather be entertained by books like Grey than watch endless Meta ads.

Very sweet story about a boy whose mother teaches him to dispel his fears in a creatively magical way.

As an adult, he gets arrested for winning a quite a big sum gambling at a casino. The book starts out with a series of interrogations by a police detective who doesn't believe a word of the nonsense relayed about why his winnings were not illegal.

We won't know much til the end... I'm savoring the good quotes.

Wittiness: funny 😁..."Gentleman prefer bonds." And other wryly dry humor. As if he's lost much patience but is willing to observe the process for the sake of this book. ...

Susan Cain should win an award for bravery. For proving introversion is the trait educators and parents have widely misunderstood and mislabeled as shy. Shy signifies timidity which although could be coupled with introversion... doesn't take into account temperament, physical size, or relative strength to peers, and certainly doesn't acknowledge abilities / disabilities introverts may have: hidden "super powers."

Judging by the number of reworks and summaries of this title, there are a lot of introverted readers... listening on audio.... Shhh! 😊

I’m listening to this based-on-true-events (historical fiction) tale courtesy of BARD from The Braille Institute. Heart wrenching from the very beginning since it’s about the Holocaust, something my family and I were lucky not to experience, (death on a massive scale during WWII Poland & France, …no spoilers here. It’s very well written and I’m only on the 2nd chapter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
