The variety of brilliance is like a garden in spring.

This book is as much about Japanese baseball Culture as about the Japanese game of baseball.

I just find myself not caring about these people. Not caring what happens next and not liking any of them at all. When all I'm rooting for is the end of the book, it's time to throw in the towel. And Grien is a class A jerk.

I'm still not certain that this is or is not a good book.

The very breadth of selections make this book breath-taking. The only one I couldn't finish was the ham-fisted excerpt penned by Mingus in the third person as a novel. Truly too bizarre for words.

Read some memoirs of Anita O'Day yesterday. Moving along.
