Just read the publisher's note at the very beginning of this book. What a despicable way to start the book! Patriarchy raised its ugly little head quick with this one! I see its riddled with "notes" by them too. All anonymous of course. Thank goodness I read the authors introduction straight away! That's calmed the fury a bit; her positive, warm approach has been something of a balm.

"A lot of sexism is not so much deliberate and malicious as it is a problem of perspective- and an inability to be able to conceive that the world could be anything other than 'just how it is'. As if 'just how it is' is innate, or natural, rather than constructed by a society with only half of humanity in mind-in large part because the other half weren't allowed a voice."

I feel too old for this book!
