The Assignation.
A true italian doomed romance. I liked this short story, while the subject matter brought to mind people with more money than character, I liked the flow of it. The story was short and concise... at least i think so... which made it enjoyable to read.

The Island of the Fay.
Another one of Poe’s meanderings, these are something I have to be in the mood for, right now they don’t hold much interest for me. I’ll reread them at another time. When I’m more meditative.

The Imp of the Perverse. Not so much a short story as an article of a subject the Poe has opinions on. It was a bit of a slog to get through. Not even sure i grasped his point. I’ll probably reread it another time.

The Masque of the Red Death.
I was seeing the whole party in my mind and thinking of people wearing those creepy masquerade costumes that were worn during one scene in Labyrinth. Towards the end i started to think that the black room was not made by Prince Prospero, but by someone...or something... else.

The Fall of the House of Usher.
So I have finally read one of Poes most popular stories, I liked it. It was creepy and yet I didn’t find it supernatural at all. It was a horror that could happen in the past centuries.

Let this be a lesson, never be mean to animals, they’ll get you in the end.

The Facts in the Case of M Valdemar.
This was a creepy story, keeping a dying man in a hypnotized state until well after death. The ending was very good.

Mesmeric Revelation.
I’m not a big fan of metaphysical pondering but I enjoyed this one. Not greatly but still enjoyed it.

Von Kempelen and his Discovery.
An account of the great alchemists puzzle. Turning base metals into gold.
While it is possible, it’s not worth the effort, the only recorded event in history of this actually happening was a nuclear reactor in Russia. Not sure about the cost effectiveness of a billion dollar reactor used to make a hundred dollars worth of gold.

I have to admit both a fascination and fear of whirlpools and such. The curiosity of what lies at the bottom of the whirlpool but the knowledge that it most likely going to be my corpse.

The Thousand-and-second tale of Sheherazhade.
The tragic end of Sheherazhade at the hands of her brutish husband. I found the descriptions of the marvelous machines and culture of England by Sinbad to be very amusing. Had fun figuring out what was actually being described.

The Purloined Letter.
Here we are entertained by Dupin, the masterful mind, again. This story had a more satisfying ending than Marie Roget, but was still the equivalent of a tsunami of speech on the part of Dupin. At this point I’m thinking that the character just likes to talk...and talk...and talk.

The Oval Portrait. A short, short-story, but carries a good message. Dont get so wrapped up in your opus that you forget that there is life around you.

MS (message) in a bottle, started out like a shipwreck story but then took a turn that made me think it was more of a ghost ship story. Either way, i liked it.

I want the Orks to win.... but I know they won’t.

A little break from Poe. I like Poe but i’m losing steam reading his short stories and I need to make better progress on my reading challenge.
So some warhammer 40k for the time being.
