Eddie is introduced as an old man about to die. So far the book is depicting is final moments before he dies as well as some background stories to give us an idea about what Eddie is like.

Rachel and Megan's perspectives are being told from different time periods. Megan is going over how she has cheated and can't find happiness in her relationship. Rachel is later on in time and has realized the girl she named Jess is actually Megan and she is missing.

Rachel is a struggling alcoholic who can't get over her old boyfriend Tom. Megan is struggling to get her bearings after the art gallery she was the manager of shuts down. She always went through a period of being a nanny for Tom's child of whom he had with the women he left Rachel for.

The book ended with Neely leaving the town of Messina after the funeral of his great coach, Coach Rake. During the 87' championship there was a fight between Neely and Rake. Neely had never forgiven him until the funeral had taken place when Rake had apologized in a note that he had left behind.

They are reliving the 87' championship via radio recording. It's an intense comeback for the Spartans as they are about to win the game without the help of their coaches.

Neely Crenshaw returned to his home town of Messina where he used to be a football hero in high school. His former coach is dying of cancer so he returns home after 15 years away. He is remembering old times with former football players of his coach, Coach Rake. They share stories of past and present while sharing each others company on the bleachers of the field they used to praise.

After Teri's son, Mikey dies she loses her mind. At the end of the book Kate goes and helps Teri by offering to help her rebuild her house.

Kate has been rejected from MIT and is on the verge of losing her mind when she finds out one of her least favorite people, Teri Litche has had her house burned down and will be temporarily living with her.

Kate Malone is dealing with her very busy everyday life. Living under the extreme stress of wondering if she got into the one school she applied to, MIT.

Trisha feels as though she is being followed in the woods. She has survived the first night with not much more then a large about of bug bites. She has a newfound hope that she will be found after Tom Gordon closed the game against the Yankees with a win the night before.

Trisha has given the back story as to why her brother and mom are so hostile towards each other due to a bad divorce. She also begins to explain the walk in which she gets lost of the trail.

Amir has written his first book and his only approval was from his fathers friend and Hassan. There was also a night where gunshots were heard and it was noted as the end of a way of life.

Amir is describing how he came to face the fact that he was nothing like his father even at a young age. Amir also describes that Hassan whom he spent the majority of his time with could not be considered a friend just because of their religions.

Carrie has started to gain control of her TK abilities. She was also asked to the spring ball, which led to Carrie standing up for herself against her overly religious mother.

Extreme religious beliefs are shown in Carries home life while at school those whom verbally abused Carrie are being repremanded for their actions.

Carries mother is introduced in a flashback narrarated by an old neighbor recalling a scene where the overly religious mother whome is quite psychotic has an emotional breakdown and seemingly brings her daughter (Carrie) indoors where a scene of insanely loud and estranged screams come from within.

The main character of the book, Carrie White has been introduced. Carrie is telekenetic whihc is not a good thing as she is a very emotionally unstable social outcast who seems as though she is about the crack at any second.

Everyone now has made the connection between Jimmy and the kidnapping of Brian. Brians family is struggling to keep their composure while an accidentely leak in the news mentions Brian was taken by Jimmy. Now Jimmy is preparing to dispose of Brian to maintain his own safety.

ally has built up the nerve to call the police about Brian being taken hostage even after Jimmy promised to bring harm to brian. Cally could not bear to hear the stories about a missing boy on christmas eve with a sick father in a hospital being aired on all news stations and radios.

The police are frantically tring to track down Jimmy as he had shot a police officer. All the while Brians family is frantically trying to figure out what exactly happened to him as they don't yet know about the connection to Jimmy. Its curious to see Jimmys plan of escape, as he pretends the boy is his son to get through areas with causing alarm.

By stealing the wallet of young Brians mother, Cally has accidently caused for brians kidnapping by her estranged brother Jimmy whom is on the run from the police. All the while Brian's mother is attempting to deal with the fact that her son is missing during the holidays while her husband is also deathly sick in the hospital.

Jennifer has lost her son, started defending the worst type of people (organized crime) and is going crazy. She doesn't like where she is or what shes doing but as soon as she starts attempting to leave the bad side of the law we read that an organized crime member she replaced has given incriminating information about her that cause suspicion towards her from government.

Jennifer bounced back from being nearly disbarred to be a star criminal layer beating her "nemesis" the district attorney who is attempting to destroy her career.

interesting how Jennifer is rebounding after almost completely destroying her career during her first day on the job and turning that into surviving in her small apartment making money serving subpoenas instead of practicing law under the district attorney.
