I really don’t want to DNF this one but it’s sooooo bad.

So far it lacks the charm of the three main novels. I think it’s the bouncing of narrators but I really can’t put my finger on it. It feels like this story wasn’t ready to be told and should have been woven through an actual novel.

I will finish this tonight.

This book could be a good 100 pages shorter.

I still can’t stand Ballard but Bosch makes the story tolerable. We need Mickey, though.

I feel like a lot of stuff could have been cut out. Like, all the crap with Robin and Matthew.

At what point are we supposed to start feeling bad for Robin?
