Liking the slow reveal of the worldbuilding more than the central mystery currently; accidentally spoiled myself (maybe) by reading the summary of the second book in the series

This hasn't been a hooked at first page for me; and it is longer than I thought it would be and longer than I generally read romances. But the moment of the couple worked enough for me to continue

Provenance-4/5 Lays out a lot of info without ever being overdone; sly, fun.

Tawny Petticoats 5/5- fast paced, unique world, well drawn characters, twisty story. I would want to read more in this universe.

Bent Twig 3/5 - standard crime alternative detective pair fiction that dragged in the beginning but got more fun when the partner came and action started.

The Inn of the Seven Blessings 3/5. Fine story and did like the reveal but other parts brought it down.

What Do You Do? 3/5. Enjoyed the prose and the reveal, but there was just a distance that kept me from being immersed in the story. Only the lead felt partially real. The ~twists could not elevate it.

Tough Times All Over - 5/5 really took the title to heart; fun thievery all around; vibrant characters; thought of Adventure Time's City of Thieves episode

Right now feels like standard detective fiction in fantastical setting

Short stories with layered, vivid language that just gently tugs along.

3rd time is the charm: deep pov works, 1st person took some getting used to but so far, so good.
