For the film, Lexi was aged-up and girl-bossified, while Ellie was also aged-up yet DE-girl-bossified. John Hammond was transformed from a cynical businessman to a kindly but naive visionary, Muldoon was changed from a drunk Kenyan (who survives the entire narrative) to a tragic Australian martyr, and the book's Ian Malcom dies slowly & horribly of sepsis. The book also ends much less cinematically.

I love that they made Movie John Hammond's refrain "Spared no expense!" given that in the book he cut as many corners as he could, which is precisely what leads to every single problem they face. Not only were there infrastructural and systemic issues, he effectively CHEATED Dennis Nedry out of his hard earned money, forcing him to work longer for less pay -- leading Nedry to betray them out of spite, not greed.
