AKA The importance of interacting in goodreads

Lately, I have been struggling a lot thinking about how to react towards story and craft aspects in a book.

For example, if the author involves a bully who is sexist or homophobic or something and it wasn't part of the main plot it bothers me. But perhaps that was the intention of the author? But then why do you need to write a dialogue like that?

Is it just me?
