J. J. (now on BookWyrm) is on page 148 of 287 of Self-Made Man: One Woman's Year Disguised as a Man
The chapter on love (where Ned dates women) is both hilarious and insightful.

Highly recommend these stories, mainly for Proulx's gripping descriptions of thoughts and actions.

Starting in on Brokeback, and then The Mud Below. Proulx has a wonderful flow to her words.

J. J. (now on BookWyrm) is reading Three Plays: The Sea-Gull / Three Sisters / The Cherry Orchard
Finished with The Cherry Orchard. This is the first time I've read Chekhov; not sure I'm much of a fan, although I still look forward to checking out some of his short stories. I feel like I need to be more familiar with his style before I can properly review this one.

Oh, man. Wading through the biblically long list of warrior tribes preparing for battle... Glad Penguin has short character summaries at the end of the book.

Grabbed a copy from the library, skipped the translator's intro, and ripped right through Book One. Much easier read than I expected.

Made it through the "C"s. Much easier browsing this huge full-color travel info book than surfing the Internet... even though it was published in 1985.
