I need to stop reading this before bed - last night I had a nightmare about the Holocaust thanks to this. Only my over-active brain then got involved in a debate with itself about the genocide in Gaza as well, and I woke up angry and sad.

Confusing as hell keeping track of all the characters, but starting to get into it...

Starting this one again, this time with the aid of an audiobook of all three volumes that clocks in at some 126.5 hours at regular speed...

Worryingly topical, given this was published as a warning about the rise of pseudoscience and science scepticism some 30 years ago. There's a reason the released the audiobook version during Trump's first term...

Blitzing this because I'm barely understanding it...

This first chunk of the book is all maths, and I'm not following this at all...

Listening to the audiobook when out with the dog and hearing the narrator read out long strings of binary numbers is surprisingly relaxing. Checking the physical edition when I get home, I still don't understand any of it.

This is interesting, if a bit dry. Making me want to learn much more about early medieval Asia, though.

The narrator of the audiobook version is truly atrocious at Japanese pronunciation, but other than that, this is pretty decent so far - currently on Japan's colonisation of Taiwan.

Forgot I'd not finished this one. Rather good, actually. Simple, easy to follow. A good intro. Want to dig into Chinese history more, extending my recent Silk Roads thing...

This is really rather good so far - especially for an exhibition guidebook.

Still not entirely convinced by this one, if I'm honest.

Following up that book focused on the granularities of the day of the fall of Robespierre with one exploring how the Revolution shifted from progressive idealism to mass-murder. As ever, the answer is already clear: "It's complicated, with many, many factors involved." Book's promising after the intro and first chapter, though.

Got my pages and percentages mixed up...

This is rather good so far. A very solid introduction to more or less current cross-disciplinary understanding, which seems to have come on a bit from when I did this period for A-level a good long while ago...

Have mostly been enjoying this more on a second read, but all the stuff about betting is - as someone who doesn't gamble and doesn't understand probability at all - rather tedious.

Reading due to increasingly recognising ADHD traits in myself. The more I read, the more I recognise... Will the tips on dealing with it help? That's the big question...
