Peculiar how there is no trace whatsoever of what the ending of the series will be throughout Dust of Dreams and then a mere dozen pages in The Crippled God, here it is, the subject, the object, and the intent.

Going slowly with this one. I remember devouring it on the first read but now it feels too slow and with plotlines that seem too disconnected between each other. Liking the occasional reveal on the history and plans of various Gods though

A much improved Esslemont. First book of his where the story seems to logically progress and there are not plots seemingly unrelated to each other.

Proceeding super slowly with this. Life events are making reading heavy books like this too hard at the moment. There is also an higher than usual amount of buildup, even for a Malazan book, which makes reading it even slower. But I will get to the end, eventually.

The Russian part was more descriptive, and a tad boring. The Tibet part, just begun, is a proper travel story, even if currently miserable.

Going super slow with this. Not one of my favourites, unlike most Malazan fans. I guess Rake's presence raises the rating for many but not for me.

Nearly a quarter into it and it is a book about Bolshevism rather than a travel recount. Interesting, but not what I expected

So far I would invite those finding this book entertaining to get out of future gene pool for humanity's sake

Having reached the point where the first Dune movie ends, I am taking a break of a few days to not spoiler myself the second.

This reads so easily yet is not shallow. Looking at you, modern YA fantasy...

Taking a break from Malazan with a light reading (/s).

Or maybe I am going to read Malazan, Toll the Hounds, together with Dune, just to avoid ever being bored for the next 6 months, ah!
