An excellent collection. There is a beautiful crispness and a lovely gentle rhythm to his poetry, and the everyday nature of his poems particularly appeal to my sensibility. There is also a section on his translations of Hindi poetry. Have only read a few of those so far, but they are good too. I have to say I like the older Indian poets rather more than the modern ones.

The subject is fascinating and Pedro Domingos does a good job covering the lay of the land. Being involved in AI to an extent, the material covered here is quite interesting to me. That said, it could have been written better. I still have a ways to go - so this review could change as I make more progress.

So I was curious to see how the original Tamil version is like compared to this translation. Downloaded an audio version of the Kurals, wouldn't have understood anything but for the interpretation provided. Must have been tough for Gopalkrishna Gandhi to translate it, given he has stuck to the format of the original as closely as possible. Some of the translated couplets are very nice, but some seem more forced.
