The pearl of this is a little paragraph at the end of chapter forty-eight, where Jeff, the driver, decides to dawdle behind the corner until Jack is justified to take his mourning anger out on him.
These are the shining jewels this book is made real by.

I just want to say, I am now about 900 pages into the Dune saga and I'm still consistently facepalming at the names "Paul" and "Jessica".

And yes, I am aware of the implications (regardless of them being due to context or intention etc), BUT still cringing every time I get a "Qizarate", "Edric", "Tleilaxu" and right after "Jessica said".

SORRY FRANK but to Gen Z this will always sound like a AO3 fanfiction

First impression confirmed: although this book is nothing special (both for story and writing) it would make a sublime, unforgettable Ghibli movie. The scenery and the characters are just made for it. And the plot is just so matching with Miyazaki's storytelling style. Very curious if any other reader got this feeling.

Mi ricorda spaventosamente The book of lost things di John Connolly, vanilla all'inizio e poi inizia il terrore.
