Oh boy is it GRIM that beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic is now considered historical fiction, and I can't help but "oh no!" out loud when the parents assume that 1) it'll be over in a month and 2) that the kids will be safer in the US because "it doesn't have cases) and allegedly has an advanced medical system

Like... this middle grade book is definitely going to run into #StopAsianHate based on the timeline

Listened while folding and making the bed with fresh sheets. Patience has entered the narrative.

Nothing earthshakingly new to me so far, but certainly a good reminder to consider the biases baked in the way we talk about parenting, demographics, etc.

A little bit bittersweet too to read about considering inclusive language to be thoughtful when the current admin is stripping it away

Fascinating how each mythological camp/cluster has its own quirks...

A little more murder than I was expecting, but I think I assumed magical realism instead of thriller (my discord mom friends are thriller girlies so maybe I shouldn't be surprised)

If I'd been paying a bit more attention, the immediate connection to PJO would've been obvious

A hint of the plot I thought was happening in the background maybe?? Foreground is a horny 17 year old who's hanging out in the poetry scene and if I were more in the literary scene I might have deeper insights but I don't, haaa

Actually started this. I vaguely remember Kavin's posts when debunking GMO myths and being alarmed when she stepped away from that but I don't remember if the timeline adds up to parenting OCD. Maybe?

I don't remember if Cherish is on Goodreads but ma'am did you realize how horny this book was when you suggested it

(Our first pov is a 17 year old boy so it's kind of unsurprising but I am... curious about what our discussions will be like next month)

The number of things in the last couple chapters read that made me yell IRL is very high, including two musical numbers

Aw, tiny Annabeth at the end of the first story. With the way the second starts, a lot of retrospective pity for Luke...
