...well that was an interesting chapter

I am loving this!!

(currently listening to the audiobook) The way the narrator said "use the soup!" killed me 😂 That had no right being that funny!

I love Simon already 😂

Part of the issue I have noticed that I have been having, not just with this book, but this series in general, is that everything is either good or bad, black or white, there is no gray area really described. People are either inherently evil, or perpetually good. Even if you have some "morally gray" character, they are still approached through the lens of good or bad.

Also HUGE trigger warning for rape, both trauma related and references.

Again, the family members are well-meaning pests to our protagonists. Is there anyone in this book other than Robin and Cormoran who ISN'T an irritant to them at any given time?

Honestly, the way the women in particular are portrayed in this novel is really bothering me. The only woman who ISN'T an irritant is apparently Robin, which in and of itself IS an irritant.
Can't the author trust the character to stand on her own rather than make her appear superior by comparing her to caricatures?

I'm just grateful this book, for whatever reason, seems to have gotten me out of my reading slump. I actually WANT to read stuff now!

The social commentary is VERY obvious and quite heavy handed. Why is it that everyone around our protagonists are annoying?
