This has got to be the most elaborate exercise in telling and not showing that I've ever experienced.

Well, I've already lost an entire morning and teared up twice. Describing this as magic doesn't begin to cover it.

Okay, maybe I just didn't get this Calcutta story. So we're as dead as zombies? We all worship the same gods and make offerings at the same altars? The protagonist was no different to the guys living on the muddy hill, no different to the zombies? Or was it just a story about intestines sliding from body cavities and mutilated genitals?

I'm partway through the third story, Calcutta, Lord of Nerves, and some of the details are niggling at me. Why are thousands of people living in slums on a muddy hill while the protagonist is safe from zombie attacks, squatting in one room of an otherwise empty marble palace just down the road? Aren't there enough empty palaces and factories to go around??

"The music they listened to was alternately lush as a wreath of funeral roses and dark as four a.m."

"We are going to follow this pretty outcast up the ass of one centaur and down the throat of another!" What. A. Line.

The pace is really picking up now. Also... WTF Fetch?!!

"He liked larger women, which was a mercy, considering his famed proportions."

I had no idea fat women also have large vaginas capable of taking monster cocks. You learn something new every day.

Why is everyone always naked? My brain is seared with half-orc nipples. And elf nipples. Good story, though.
