How am I so dumb? How did I not think of/realize this? "What these idiots don't realize is that when the evacuations were called, it was only the 36th. If someone was waiting for a paycheck slated to come today--the first of the month--they weren't going to see it" (147). FACEPALM. I AMDUMB.

While After the Levees Broke shows some of the horrors of the effects of Katrina, seeing first-hand accounts of the ways that the government failed survivors and the lack of concern for our fellow humans makes me completely sick.

The first 20 pages are all of the actual flood happening during the storm. Greens and muddled images that may not be recognizable without pre-existing knowledge.

"The sun turns my hair to hot bread..." I love the combination of poetry and childish prose in this story. Combined with the surreal, then realistic drawings--super intriguing!

I wonder if maybe THEY WILL ALL DIE SINCE I HATE THEM ALL.
