5+ Stars.....Perfection in every word of this story....The emotions bled of the pages of the novel ;engaging me and entrancing me from the first chapter till the epilogue...Superb!!!

Ambrose Young had a voice fitting of the package it was encased in. It was smooth and deep and impossibly rich. If dark chocolate could sing it would sound like Ambrose Young. Fern shivered as his voice wrapped around her like an anchor, lodging deep in her belly, pulling her under. She found her eyes closing behind her thick glasses, and she let the sound wash over her. It was incredible.....

To Fern, Ambrose Young was absolutely beautiful, a Greek God among mortals, the stuff of fairy tales and movie screens..... I've decided to move this gem to the top of my TBR;embarking on an epic read....so excited!!!

His eyes held mine as he entered me slowly, his lips a scant millimeter off of the surface of mine. Our breaths mingled and mixed, concocting a new recipe of scent and sensation that I would forever associate with this moment.

She seemed surprised that I could read her so well, but with me she’d always been a crystal clear page. No smudges to impede the context or fancy emotional language to get caught up in. Just smooth, simple prose that read true to her every emotion. If other people had trouble reading her, they weren’t very good at context clues.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered, stabbing me in the heart with one of the most brutal non-breakups I’d ever had. I’d never have her the way I wanted, and this was her way of delivering the blow.

This woman was a gymnast I coached. I was her coach, for fuck’s sake. It would be totally douchey of me to exert my power and influence as a figure of trust in her life in order to get in her pants. Leotard. Fuck. No. I wasn’t getting inside of anything....

It’d all gone wrong from the start, the spit that sealed our first handshake seeming to swear me into an alternate universe. What was right got twisted upside down, and nothing mattered more than finding the missing pieces of her puzzle.....*sigh*

Woo hoo !!!! This bad boy finally arrived on my kindle this morning ;nuts and all....lol!!! So excited to start this tomorrow...:))

But here in her world, she was like a solar eclipse. No one looked directly at her as we made our way across the gym. I didn’t know if it was for fear that it would burn out their retinas or something else.

"We both have our issues, Grace. But we're stronger together than we ever were apart. And I want you, because I know, right here," I stated, lightly pounding the spot over my heart, "that you're the one for me."

"Grace, I want you to have better. I know you deserve better, but I want you too much to let you go. It's worth the risk. Being able to love you is worth anything."

He settled in and sighed, holding me close. "It's safe here," he muttered against my skin. "Right here. It's peaceful. Even though I can't see you, I feel you."

The end was coming fast. I wanted it. I wanted to move forward. But then what happens? Grace wouldn't be here any longer, and I was tempted to re-break my leg just to keep her.

The man underneath all that tough skin – scarred skin – was still just a human being. He wanted peace just like the rest of us. It was just a little harder to come by these days.

"I'm just me," she said, quietly. "You're beautiful." The words left my mouth without my prompting, but there was nothing inside of me that wanted to take them back. She released a self-deprecating laugh and, again, I wondered what she was doing with her hands. "I may be blind, Grace. But I can still see some things."

I couldn't get a glimpse of the boy he was before he went to war, before he went into the military. That care-free heart breaker was no longer in there. He changed and I'm not just talking about the change that war causes. He had become a man, and it was obvious he didn't think he was a whole man anymore

Her voice took the pain away. I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't experiencing it for myself. Her voice took my mind away from my body until all I could do was listen. All I could feel was her voice. Not the aching in my limbs or the hollow in my head. Just her.....BEAUTIFUL,JUST BEAUTIFUL..:))

My fate was sealed. I was no longer the man I had been when I first joined the Army. No longer the man my unit saw when they followed me off base that day... I was a result of war.....A consequence.
