What a disappointing first chapter. If you're a hardcore capitalist and/or libertarian then this is good masturbation material for you; "Deep work is valuable" because some people who engage in it have become wealthy. Skip this chapter and read Coyle's The Talent Code instead, unless you like forty plus pages of some guy fawning over SQL code and jargon to make a to-be-an-expert-you-need-to-know-things point.
