How did I never hear of Jean Rhys before?

So instead of studying I watched Gillo Pontecorvo's The Battle of Algiers to educate myself on one of the most prominent independence movements of the 20th century, and it made me question everything about urban guerrilla warfare. Now it seems imperative to delve into Fanon's The Wretched of the Earth as a complementary reading to cement my knowledge of insurgency tactics in a colonial context.

Finally picking up where I left off... I've been so busy lately, but James Baldwin's hypnotic prose pulls me back in almost instantly.

I just found a film equivalent to Goodreads and it even has a half-star system. My crops have flourished and Mufasa has risen from his grave.

This is well on its way to become one of my favorite m/m novels.

Such a tender and honest portrayal of human emotions and relationships. This is just my kind of read.

Summer school is finally behind me, I'm taking a much-deserved break from work and hopping onto a plane to Spain for vacation. I couldn't think of a better way to start off the week than indulging in this gorgeous novel.

You have to forgive me for my terrible lack of activity on here, I've hit the worse reading slump yet and I'm slowly turning into a lazy burrito. All I do between summer school and work is marathoning TV shows (Vikings is so great?) and animes. In other news, this season of GoT was perhaps the ugliest thing I ever had to sit through and I thank the old gods and the new for putting an end to my misery. Amen.

Needless to say, I'm expecting you all not to spoil TRC for people on here out of common courtesy. It's the last book in the series, a lot will go down and everyone may not necessarily be reading it at the same time. Please be considerate. Unless there is a way to mute friends on Goodreads unknown to me, there's no way to control what ends up on your newsfeed. With this being said, enjoy!

Oh man. Oh man. Just got a pang of nostalgia thinking about the Point Horror stories I used to read in third grade. 90's kiddos will understand. R.L Stine, Caroline B. Cooney, Christopher Pike... I remember devouring all their books on school nights (which probably explains why I suck at math). I feel like picking them up again, just for the fun of it.

I was about to start a dystopian then I watched the news. Fiction, you say? No, this is the world we live in. I'm angry, disappointed and disgusted beyond words. Scratch that, I'm reading a fluffy NA.
