So, the racism is… bad.

Well, a lot of this hasn't aged well at all. Like i get what he's doing, because he spent a lifetime doing it: poking holes in America's silly conceits and dangerous delusions, but almost everything related to race in this book makes me cringe.

This is literally the last thing I'd expect from Helen McDonald (H is for Hawk), but boy is it a pleasant surprise. Currently reminding me of THe Wolf Comes Home for it's serious take on a kind of 80s spinner rack thriller plot.
