Oops. I read the first page in the bookstore to see if it’d be a good book to read after i finished my currently reading… then brought it home and kept reading. Miranda July always so off-the-wall and poignant and ludicrous and enticing.

This was a great choice for reading while in Greece.

So far, so very good. No wasted words. Fantastic character development. Excellent story telling!

My band, Aux Meadows (bandcamp.com), plays ambient americana. synth. guitar. lap steel. I picked this book for us to read. The descriptions of the journey out of Butcher’s Crossing and into the west are brilliant and slow and mesmerizing and a good fit for our music. We’re working on new material and I hope these descriptions lend us guidance.
