This is EVERYTHING I wanted from a story like this. I'm trying not to spoil things, but OMG. FINALLY!

This is building up to be a favorite. We'll see how it ends. I don't want to give it too much credit and give it an impossibly high standard to live up to.

I know exactly where this is heading, but I don't want it to go there. I want to relish in the happiness of this. The way I wish it'd go. It still could go that way, but I'm sure it won't.

I love Rachel Harrison's main character's names. Vesper is such a cool name and they even state so in the book. In "Such Sharp Teeth", the main character was named Aurora "Rory" for short. Maybe this is something I'll come back and cringe at later on but I really just like the name she uses.

Her highly faithful recluse family that lives on a secluded farm live on Donner road? We hyper focus on the smell of red meat? The aunt has a prized roast that she makes for special occasions? I went into this book blind because it's by an author who I've read before and enjoyed, and it was listed as horror, but I'm telling you right now, this is a cannibalism story. Mark my words.

One margarita has this girl throwing up on the side of the road and crawling up her steps to her apartment???? Honey, get your shit together.

I've reached the climax and resolution of this story, yet there are still 40 pages left. There's not enough time for a new plot introduction, yet there's still a lot of time left for... something. At this point, I have to assume it will be pure smut from here on out.
I will laugh if they introduce a pregnancy.
