Wow...this book is terrible. It's so dull, and it reads like a bad creative writing class assignment. I'm on page 79, and it's all been just endless, repetitive exposition, foreshadowing (which the author undermines with comments from the narrator), and filler. The author seems to care SO much more about what seem like hastily-researched period details and the ethnicity of her female protagonist than a horror story.
