This was just on a list of the most disturbing books ever written... This is just 4chan incel shit from the 40s. It's not that much different from JG Ballards the Kindness of Women (which I guess makes sense given that they're both fictionalized biographies of young men coming of age in Japan in the 30s and 40s)

I'm enjoying this book but it is also a little bit of "wait who was that again? Oh wait nevermind they're dead" over and over again. So many characters that I just don't remember from the previous books.

This is mildly spoilery but I have a prediction. So spoilers for the end of the previous book.











At the end of the last book Sevro left Darrow to go back to his family and now he's operating alone with the howlers that chose to stay. But this happened in like book two or something too. They had a disagreement and Sevro left but then turned out to be following the whole time. I suspect that's happening again.

Once again, these books are so dense that having to wait for a copy to become available makes it so hard to follow. I don't remember where people were at the end of the last book but I'm almost positive that this character was on the other side of the universe

I've been aware of and have read quite a bit of the scp foundation project (which this was originally made as posts to) but this is by far the best writing I've seen from it. Control (which is based on the scp foundation) is a pretty fantastic adaptation of the concepts in there is no antimemetics division as are the 2 series on YouTube.
The redaction is too heavy handed in Five Five Five Five Five.

I know this is a nobody criticizing a professor and author (as well as classic Russian literature) but I really don't agree with his statements about the first two stories. He asserts that the purpose of a scene is to make you think that exactly the opposite of what I thought was happening was happening (wow great writing cache.
