Incredibly powerful read by an author whose only intent was to record his long search for the truth behind the loss of his ancestral lands in South Texas. What results is a scathing account of the kind of bald-faced land-grabbing that we never read about in our Texas History textbooks.

What a fascinating read. This book gives me insight into a history that is not my history but relates directly to my history through shared narratives of oppression and injustice. The psychological pressures to resort to the kind of extreme action undertaken in Northern Ireland shed lights on the same pressures here.

A great way to ride out December. Just starting this prodigious tome, but if the first three chapters are any indication, I’m gonna zip through this one.

My god. One of the most riveting opening chapters of a novel I've ever read. Ending on the most closing explosive line I've ever come across. Turning the page was not only easy, but compulsive.
