Currently unsure why so many fans don't like this one. So far, it's incredible, though NOT for the fainthearted. By Page 70, I was in tears. It's so, so powerful.

Electricity - really moving, with beautiful observations

The Wife of Bath's Tale - it was alright. There were some great passages in it.

All these sorts of books sound like they written from a template, by the same person

The Cooks' Tale - pointless

Trataton - not the right level of Russian at all, compared to the stories that come before it. Full of nature jargon, local dialect, and idioms I couldn't follow. It took ages to get through it. In the end, it didn't do much. I get the point it's making, but...I couldn't get into it. The English translation was also extremely strange, making me mistrust the parts I couldn't verify.
