What’s up with the performative male caricature?

I do like this writer’s style, but the content?? I didn’t realize this was a memoir. I cannot fathom having the money to travel to South America to “fix” my problems. Gonna keep an open mind and keep listening, but I’m incredibly turned off by the writer’s place in the world versus his outlook.

This book is so terrible, but I’m just listening, so I’m gonna power through to the end.

How have i listened this far and nothing has happened

The only reason I’m still listening to this is because I was stuck on a plane. I figure I’ll finish it, but something better happen soon.

Reminds me of a newer (potentially more complex) version of Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen so far. I haven’t read that book since high school, but I’m sensing similar themes.

Oh my god this is terrible 😭😭 the attempts at plot are too funny

Just a little bit into chapter 1 about “the flirt” and I already find it incredibly unrelatable.

Figured I’d try this out, but I’m just in the introduction and am already thinking, “ummmm?”

It seems like the author is already conflating systemic conflict or abuse with interpersonal? To me, these require different methods. I’m gonna keep listening to give it a fair chance.

I think i might have to just read the summaries to learn the ending of the series… i can’t do it anymore 😭
