The control of language, via the dictionary of newspeak, and therefore the control of thought reminds me of how men were the ones to write dictionaries and women had to use their words.
It reminded me how slang like teenage girls slang especially is viewed as silly and unprofessional even though it’s perfectly valid. Also makes me think of the importance of emotion and how they cannot always be captured by words.
