Wow, is this an appropriate book to be read today. "Men without Chests" is an amazing essay and especially so as it was written 80 years ago!

Fargo is Da Boss Man! It is always a joy to ride shotgun with Neal Fargo. Master of knife and gun and fist and woman. Has guns and travels, hard. Action here has amped up and Fargo's going to step up and get them out of it.

This has been a rocking series. After Bk 1 I was cool, interested enough to jump into Bk 2 but not ready to keep the series on my limited shelves. Bk 2 knocked things outta the park and I'm perfectly ready to add these to my shelves, was just waiting on Bk 3 to deliver ...and it sure is! Quite exciting and I'm eager for the building climax to explode.

Off to a grand start! Nicely weaves between the key players and gives a lot of bloody action and bonds of loyalty. Exciting tidbits are building with hints of larger things to come. This twining of the 3 original stories into one has been epically done. Author still treats readers as dumb or forgetful though.

This has been a thrilling read. Great heroics with a couple of cool surprises.

This has been quite a great book of storytelling. Bloody action, fierce heroes, dire deeds, massive powers; exciting, heroic, fun to read. Editing sucks - lots of repetition, both of similar sentences pages/chapters apart and of information relayed anew as if I hadn't just recently read it. Irritating. As is the stupid 'thought-cage' Gwynne can't stop using over and over again and again.

Good beginning, though 2 curiosities: they moved a ton of data upfront, so it got in the way of getting to the story; and now there are 5 POV characters...he added 2 of the baddies. That's an interesting move, as he also appears to be trying to make them sympathetic. Not a fan of that. Am a fan of the bloodshed and looming danger.

The mystery builds nicely. Violence is pleasing, and the descriptions of things and places and people thorough.

"thought-cage" is killing me. Gwynne obviously fell in love with his darling and no editor had the cajones to kill 'em.

Now we're really getting dangerous! The authors have pulled out all the stops and multiple targets are in dire straits all around the museum. Intense and fun!

Really strong stretch here. Logical and expertly examined and encouraged. Though I still tire of the 20 question routine.

105 to 118, especially "Go," have been spot-on. Truly covers doing, acting. I'm so tired of decision-makers...I want action-takers. People who decide and do; not just decide and then delay. Far too many of those around. Best sections yet.

Still has not grabbed me as I anticipated. Each of the 3 protagonists are interesting, perhaps Varg the most, but I actually like his mentor/sidekick/comedic ally Svik best. Hopefully these 3 threads will join soon.

Reminding me very much of Brian Ruckley's Norse-ish series... though unlike his series, not catching me yet. So far a disparate set of protagonists, Varg the most interesting.

Whoo-hoo, shit's hit the fan HARD! Lots of death and mayhem and scares and putting the FBI idiots and sanctimonious museum head honchos in their places.

This is a pleasing but not deep story. There is a young adult vibe to it and the characters have an innocence of nature. The world building is clever and the ideas of magic dangerous - but not the most dangerous - and the inclusion of old ideas like dragons and powerful swords. I like it but am not addicted though I do want to read it quickly...perhaps because I know what I'm reading next.

Interesting story and trio of protagonists so far. Obviously not a primarily English-speaking author but not too bad in translation.

Man, chapters 47-51 have been hilarious and awesome! I love the old necromancer.

What a complicated yet consummate warrior Patton was! And as usual, politics f's everything up.

Thus far 5,000 questions, a zillion platitudes, some great quotes, several appropriate historical examples, a few poor illustrations, and a mixed stance on religion/God.

He uses examples that assume we know who the hell he's talking about.

"Don't Fear Decisions" is finally a solid chapter I wholly embrace. Though it should be titled "Don't Fear Decisions -- Act!"

Fascinating read. Though I do hope all his self-depreciation pans out in the end.

It's an audiobook so I have no idea how far I am actually. Anyway, being read by the author is absolutely awesome. It's a terrific narration. Chapters 27 and 28 were great. Definitely got to read more of this guy's stuff!

Getting scary...but they really shouldn't have put the monster on the cover.

These are definitely fun stories featuring a devious and determined to survive fighter.
