There is a lot of Philip K Dick's Null-O in this story

A paradox of the book is that the analysis of why storytelling is so ill equipped is the strongest section. As I slogged through the middle third, with its confetti of numbers, I thought the whole time that this would be better told as a few key scenarios with end notes. What I felt appears to be addressed in this chapter on storytelling: we don't know how to tell this

Counter Clock World was the first PKD book that I read, and I have always loved it. However, rereading Your Appointment Will Be Yesterday, I think the original short story might be the better version

Sometimes, the twist feels like it was decided on very late, as it does not properly stitch together. Since, the book kids so busy explaining every last thing to you, that really jumps out

The origin of the super powers in this are like the description given in PKD like the Golden Man

Reminds me of Le Guin and Octavia Butler in a most favourable way. Initially, I found the self serious world building jarring after reading so much PKD, but on reflection, I understand the necessity of this as a genre convention, although I forget the exact formulation of this truism that I recently read

The discussion of Now Wait for Last Year, The Simulacra, and The Penultimate Truth is excellent. I count them amongst my favourite PKD novels, and reading this critique really helps see why

This novel is an amalgam of several novels and short stories. In addition, it is distinctly within a particular world type that recurs across several novels. There is an apparent pattern across such recurrences in PKD, in which one of the sequence is more ambiguous and another is more resolved. In some senses, this is a more resolved Simulacra

Chapter 10 could be read as a commentary on the limitations of genre authors, and how their impact is independent of the weaknesses they carry by virtue of the conditions under which they write
