I recall Cat was on whatever my defenestration list was called last year, but she seems to have gotten off very successfully. In particular, her friendship with Maren is very wholesome.

Also, I know I'm supposed to dislike Halden for wanting Violet despite his past actions, but...he's pretty useful.

The Duchess of Morraine has officially jumped onto my defenestration list.

I love when Violet is angry and absolutely destroys whichever defenestration-deserving person has irked her:

“You don’t speak,” I snap, “Not to me. As far as I’m concerned, you have the credibility of a drunkard and the integrity of a rat. You dare complain about missing six years of information on Aretia when you’ve hidden centuries of our continent’s history from public knowledge?”

Whoever Henson is, I sure hope he doesn't end up on my defenestration list. And I hope that after the incident, Aura can escape the list.

Also, I hate to admit - I thought it was Tecarus.

Oh, perfect. Toss Aura into the fire and run away. Effectively eliminates two people from the defenestration list :D

...and this is why Aura should've been defenestrated several chapters ago.

New addition to the deserves-defenestration list: Captain Grady

And I might as well also highlight some underappreciated characters - Professor Devera and Ridoc. And Jesinia, Rhi, Mira, and maybe Lewellen.

I know who the first love is, but I don't know why Violet didn't want him in the quest squad.

And to think that Violet could've been a princess....

I'm not sure why, but scenes where Xaden is attempting to do something normal and completely fumbles because Violet is speaking in his mind are absolutely hilarious.

Is this supposed to be foreshadowing?

Please please please say that Dain has changed for the better...

Ridoc is underappreciated.

There are way too many people in this book who absolutely deserve defenestration. Namely, Aura Beinhaven and "General" Aetos, but Caroline Ashton isn't far behind. Interestingly, Jack Barlowe and Theophania do not make the list.

And to think I was relieved for a second...happy, even.

It would be really nice if Xaden could toss "general" Aetos out the window and blame it on the wind
